Since the day XboxLive began – they had a rule in their code of conduct that you could not list your sexuality in any way either in your gamer tag, your profile, or on the forums. Yes, there were ways around the issues like typing g@y etc and so forth but why should we HAVE to find ways around it? You don’t see straight gamers having to type str8t! Using a sexual term such as gay or lesbian was grounds for immediate account cancellation! You must then create a new user name/profile that does NOT list said information.

Many people tried to use “Variations” of the words without actually using the words… but all it took was ONE asshole who hated “fags and dykes” to report them and the result was the same.

Frustrated, the GLBT community spoke up! We spoke loud and clear about how UNFAIR it was to suspend accounts that listed “Happily married lesbian” or “Lesbian family” or “I LOVE MY WIFE!” etc. Yet the straight ladies could put “I LOVE MY HUSBAND!”. Hypocrisy was alive and well all in the name of “keeping the site free of slurs”.

We have all encountered websites that have such precautions in place, where you can not type gay slurs. Usually however – said sites DO allow you to put your sexuality in your user name or profile so long as it isn’t “slang” such as “FAG!” etc. (( While many of us DO use the terms fag and dyke in non derogatory ways, most of the straight world use them as INSULTS – so I am ok with the disallowing of these terms in general areas. ))

Today I woke to hear that the CODE OF CONDUCT for XBOX LIVE has CHANGED! Here is what it says now in regards to being GLBT :

-You may use the following terms to express your relationship orientation in your profile or Gamertag:

Lesbian
Gay
Bi
Transgender
Straight

Other terms regarding relationship orientation are not allowed. In addition you may not use these terms or any other terms regarding relationship orientation to insult, harass, or any other pejorative use against other users.-

I will be logging in today (after I post this) to put PROUD LESBIAN on my profile! I encourage everyone who is GLBT to do the same. Lets enjoy the freedom recently given to us by XboxLive! Remember though, Keep it clean! No slang :)

Good move Microsoft! Good move indeed!

Vivid dreams

No, that isn’t a game! It is what I have after PLAYING a lot of games. I know many of you do also. Many mornings after a heavy gaming session I log onto my pc to tell my best friend all about the crazy gamer dream I had the night before. My dreams can be anything from “playing the game” to being PART of the game. Almost always I wake up laughing and then I log in here and post things like “You know you game too much when… (( back in my July archive )).

Well this morning was much the same.

Lately I have been putting in most of my game time on Call of Duty – World at War. Today I woke with from a dream that I won’t give all the details but basically some hot blonde girl in a dress kept coming up to me and drawing a line or mark on my body somewhere with a blue marker. The first time the girl did this, I went into a building and didn’t think any more of it, I just continued on with my dream. However the SECOND time she did it we had a bit of a struggle. Hot girl managed to get her ink on me and as we struggled a truck came driving past us at a high speed and before I knew what was happening bullets were flying at me! I held hot girl in front of me like a shield as I dropped onto my belly. I lived, she did not have such luck (( that will teach her to mark ME! )).

I woke laughing and shaking my head as I realized that I just had a “war dream” so to speak! Ok so I wasn’t in fatigues and there were no good guys backing me and helping me out but I was marked to be easily found and “taken out”. In my mind that screams war game and instantly I realized it was due to my many logged hours on COD-W@W!

No worries though! My game dreams have a funny aspect to them that is a pleasant change from the seriously scary dreams my mind often conjures up all on it’s own! At least I recognize my goofy game dreams for what they are. I will continue on! This week it is the Nazi Zombie maps! I have never dreamed of zombies before let alone Nazi zombies! This could be fun.

Game on friends, game on!

Not many games blow my skirt up – I could say it’s because I am not wearing a skirt but that is only half the reason. I find when I game I have moods… my game must match my mood and not too many games have the ability to fully do that.

One of my more common gaming moods is CHILL. I like to kick back, relax and play a nice, no rush, no stress game! Unfortunately for me there are not that many chill games because to be honest most people prefer fast paced, action filled, breath taking games. ( I have those moods too ).

One of my most favorite chill games is A Kingdom for Keflings (( you can read it’s review in my SEPTEMBER archives )). Most of you know that they announced a rather disappointing round of DLC around Christmas 2009 that had zero new achievements just new maps. Ho hum! We all felt let down! So you can imagine my surprise and delight when Ninjabee announced there will be a NEW Keflings game!

“A WORLD of KEFLINGS” is set to release some time in 2010 and I for one am hoping it is sooner rather than later! Ninjabee only announced the new game on February 2nd and here we are 20 days later and I am already impatient as hell! I want this game NOW!~

Pop over to their site and read this little tidbit – then come back… I will wait.

Back? Great! Now tell me that doesn’t sound FANTASTIC! For those of you who have played and loved the first “Kingdom for Keflings” game, I am sure you are now as impatient as I to see the new game released asap! For those of you who have NEVER played “A kingdom for keflings” GET ON IT! Go to the xbox live arcade, download it… play it. Love it. Then and only then will you truly understand the impatience I am feeling.

Keflings – You must experience them first hand to truly love them – and love them you will. The Keflings are beloved by every age group. How many games can claim that?

Hurry up Ninjabee… I am waiting with baited breath.

Game on friends, Game on!

Guitar Hero 5 – Yup I have a serious addiction to the Guitar Hero series… I make no apologies for it either! When a game is this good, ya just have to love it!

I will start by saying that while Guitar Hero 5 is very similar to all the other GH’s it is also very different.

Similarities between GH5 and past GH series come into play with the general feel and look of the game. You still have your music highway, you still have your funky singers, you still have your fun stages and gigs and you still have awesome music!

Differences between GH5 and past GH series?

1. The highway is so clean, smooth, crisp and clear… I love the fact that they have finally cleaned this up! SO much so in fact that the other day I played through GH2 and back then they had pictures all over the highway which annoyed me to no end because it made me have to work harder to see what notes were coming and it even seemed to mess with my timing! So the clean highway? Yea it is beautiful.

2. GH5 also has a new (and I feel better) system though many people dislike it. You still have your songs and gigs you must play through as well as your challenges but now you earn STARS – career stars to be exact, instead of cash! That means the stupid achievements for earning 100 bazillion dollars is gone, which I am glad to see because come on! that was INSANE… Me and a friend calculated how many times you would have to play through the game and there is just no way – especially on some of them with songs I am not too fond of! I know some of you are dedicated and do have that cheevo but I can not be assed and I hate not being able to 100% finish the game. So I am glad to see that go!

While I am discussing stars let me give a short little explanation as to how they work. When you play a song you earn stars (the same way you did in all of the previous GH versions) you can earn up to 6 for how you play the song…. 5 being almost a perfect play though. You earn 6 if you PERFECT the song – 0 mistakes baby! ON TOP of those 6 stars that you can earn for PLAYING the song you also get 3 additional stars for completing “challenges”. Every song has a challenge be it for vocals, bass, guitar or drums! It can be anything from “Whammy all sustained notes” to “Strum up for the entire song!” You must use the instrument indicated in the challenge write up in order to earn the challenge points.

Once you enter a song with the correct instrument to do the challenge you will notice a disk beside your highway! If you are doing what the challenge requested you do you will see it has little ticks around the disk that light up – once the disk is fully circled with gold it will make a chime sound indicating you have earned the first level of the challenge which is gold! As you continue to do what it has requested you will see it fill again with a silver color, once again when you fill it – you will hear the chime! You have completed 2 levels of the challenge! Last but not least is the third, white! This is the DIAMOND level of the challenge… it too will chime signaling you have completed the last level! For many of these challenges you will NOT get through all 3 levels in one try and in fact will have to come back and replay them. Each level you complete will earn you a star – with 3 levels total giving you 3 stars total. Gold, Platinum and finally Diamond.

If you have done your math as you read this – that means you earn 6 for a perfect song play-through and another 3 for challenges giving you a complete possible 9 stars earned per song! Your stars will add up through your career and give you several achievements as you play through your gigs :)

3. Another thing that is very different is the “band moments”. I think this is a fun new addition to the game! You will notice as you play that some notes are on fire, if everyone in your band hits those notes your highway will turn golden! If you play every note that comes up when the highway is golden you will have successfully completed a “band moment”… which trust me, you want to do mainly cuz it is cool as hell ;) Nothing sucks more than when a note pops up to say “BAND MOMENT FAILED!” lol

4. Another awesome change is that it is no longer all about the guitar and or base! Nope you also have drums and vocals! I urge you to buy the band kit – which raises the playing of GH to a whole new level (as I previously discussed when I bought [out of order oops] band hero [before gh5 my bad]) ******** You can read that review here********** and be all caught up on how cool it is to play with the drums and vocals! These other instruments do come into play with the star system – so you definitely want to get your grubby hands on the band kit!

5. I need to mention that GH5 now has a “party” and “quick play” mode! Both are a great addition to the game! Party mode is basically where anyone can join in to play at any time with any instrument even MID SONG! It is great if you have company over and someone is jamming and another wants to leap in and show off their rocker skills… also? being kicked off stage is impossible in party mode, how could it get any better? Party mode is about partying and having fun without worrying how well you are doing! QUICK PLAY is simply if you want to jam – pop in, create a set list and play your hearts content! No scoring, no stars and best of all? you do NOT have to unlock all the songs first they are already unlocked for quick play and party modes!

6. One of the best new changes is NOW after long last (and much bitching and whining about not being able to do so!) you can now CO-OP career ONLINE! YES! It used to be you had to play LOCAL if you wanted a co-op career but finally GH5 takes you where you always wanted to go, ONLINE! This feature has impressed the hell out of me and my friends who have waited through the GH series to be able to co-op career online! This change alone makes this game a must have!

7. Last but definitely not least – of the new things I want to touch on is how fucking AWESOME it is that you can play as your xbox live AVATAR! YOU can ROCK OUT as a silly goofy cartoon! I have had fun with this far more than I should admit as a 34 year old woman ;) I love to pop into my avatar settings and change my clothes and then go in and rock with them on! Just like being my own little rock star complete with costume changes! LOL Ok so most people wont care and will want to rock out as some awesome in game rocker (which you can design your own still – which is rad) but the avatar rocker is pretty a cute novelty so check it out! You will unlock an achievement by doing so :)

The graphics in GH5 are fucking amazing – it was sure noticeable this weekend when I started by popping in GH2 and then popping in GH5… the difference really is breath taking. GH is one of those games that seem to get better with age. Good bye to tacky picture laden highways, hello more laid back fun!

I have nothing negative to say about GH5 as a game it holds it’s own very well and true to the GH series it offers hours of entertainment!

I just wish GH (all series) and xbox live would make it FREE to import songs from one GH to another! I already PAID for the songs on each disk PLUS my live gold, I should be able to port them over for free! Boo on you XBOX LIVE!

So go get your hands on GH5 you will love it… and if you don’t? You can always give it to someone who will ;)

Games Suck! (not really)

You would think that getting a game for Christmas would bring nothing but joy yes? Well hell I would think that too because c’mon what could the downside to this possibly be?! I swear to you there really ARE downsides to getting a game for Christmas! Several in fact! I know you do not believe me so here they are listed below.

Reason number 1 – You itch to play the game from the second you feel the tell tale shape of the game case under that pretty wrapping paper… and then once you unwrap and behold the lovely new game? The itch intensifies to that which would (I imagine) be comparable to a flaming case of chickenpox! (I state I imagine as I had my pox when I was far too young to remember – oh lucky day ;))

Reason number 2 – You have to actually wait for all your guests to LEAVE! AND if you are not at home? You have to wait until you can actually find a reason to BAIL and rush home to play. Of course this often means you look like a rude ass as you make lame excuses as to why you only stayed long enough to tear the paper off, get that glassy look in your eye and fake a violent, turkey induced headache!

Reason numbers 3 and 4 – I don’t feel I put enough emphasis on reason numbers one and two so please re read them and be sure you have those firmly in mind. Do you not agree both deserve a double billing on the list? I do too! WAITING SUCKS!

Reason 5 – Other people want to try your new game immediately! Ok ok.. sharing is grand and my mama always taught me to share but when the game is brand new? Let me play with it solo for a bit before buggin me to share the joy! If you got condoms for Christmas I wouldn’t ask you to let me partake the first time you…. oh ok bad example! Uhm *blush*

Reason 6 – You find by the time you get home ( or punt your guests to the curb like yesterdays trash ) it is late in the evening… you toss on your new game and before you know it? yea – it is 4 am and you are wide awake from the adrenalin rush, eyes burning, knowing you will pay for the late night big time at about 6 am when your kids, wife, hubby, family, neighbors, commitments, sales raise their ugly heads and say “GET OUT OF BED YOU LAZY BASTARD!”

I have now gone through reasons 1 through 6 personally – it is 4:00 am and I have to be up at 7:00 am… shit! It was so worth it though!

( You can expect a game review or 4 in the next few weeks as time permits me to game and write!)

P.S Don’t even get me started on what happens if you receive more than ONE game per holiday season because then a whole “system” comes into play! I haven’t got enough time to blog all the problems that arise in that scenario!

Game on friends, game on!

First I want to preface this by saying this quickly has risen to one of my most favorite games for the DS! So much so that I would buy it for my xbox if given the chance, to play it on a big TV.

If you like Simulation style games – you will love Animal Crossing: Wild world. This game is about a bunch of animals that live in a town (which you get to name).

You move to the town, name it and begin making friends. Friendships are very important in this game because the more the critters like you the more they are willing to give you and help you with.. you need them to like you in order to play this game. It is not hard to make friendships in your new town – in fact it is easier than one might think.

Friends are most quickly made by interacting with the critters… they all have hobbies or passions that they will tell you about whether it is fossils (One of them wants a fossil in their home so badly! and will keep telling you over and over again until you find one and gift it – which will then make the critter forever grateful, immensely happy and your BFF ;) Some of the hobbies/passions are easier to gift than others but they are all quite easily done!

Another way to make strong friendships quickly is to send them letters with gifts in them. Gift letters are actually one of the most used functions in the game! The letter can say damn near anything then you attach a gift (it can be free things you find in the game like a seashell on the beach, a piece of fruit, etc.) Critters LOVE LOVE LOVE getting mail and they will repay the letter in kind! Before you know it your mailbox will be full of letters containing gifts!

You will want to use both of these methods as often as possible to form friendships! Once the critters like you they will give you random gifts, ask you random questions, tell you jokes, what have you.

Animal crossing did a good job with this game because the critters are all rather unique. While each critter has his or her own catch phrase (which you will get to change or add to in some way once you are friends) their personalities are very different. Some of the Animals are REALLY GROUCHY! (I won’t name names, but they are pretty hard to miss when they snark at you) while others are hyper, goofy, endearing or down right annoying – there are even a muscle head and an empty headed Animal ;)

As you continue to play through this game more animals will move to your town – or just drop in… this keeps the game fresh and moving along nicely. Due to the constant influx of new residents and visitors there is always something to do. Have no fear though, with Animal Crossing:Wild World there is no rush! You can take your time, wander around, explore, chit chat with the residents all at what ever speed you like.

I will say this now that I mentioned speed and game play – that this game DOES use REAL time rather than “in game time”. Some shops are only open from 8 am to 11 pm your local time which is not REALLY a big deal unless of course you work night shifts and sleep from 8 am to 11 pm ;) Some people change their DS clock so the time is technically wrong in real life but makes the game better for in game time playability.

ACWW Also celebrates holidays and events! Yup, swanky deal! Some are real (New Years) and some are… not so real. All of them however are quite cute and entertaining as they bring in special and new features even if only for a day.

Some things also will only happen at certain times of the day, week or month! Such as “turnip lady”… A woman comes around selling her turnips which you purchase and in turn sell for a profit. She comes every SUNDAY MORNING – and you can NOT sell turnips on Sunday! Be careful to sell your turnips between Monday and Wednesday (Thursday at the latest) because they DO rot and then they are a worthless waste of money!

Speaking of money – you will need a LOT of money because you WILL need to buy things and upgrade items. Imagine that? a sims game that is life like ;) There are several ways to earn cash in ACWW though most do take some time and repetition (such as fishing) but it does add up quickly and you will learn little tricks as you play! You will ALSO want to donate money to another town (Boondox) which you can do at the town hall. No worries – the game will explain this to you when you first move to town! :)

As per usual when I love a game I could go on and on about it. There are really no negatives to this game, which coming from me is surprising! It is well thought out and well executed.

I 100% recommend this game to everyone. Rated for ages 7+ but trust me even the adults get hooked on this fun, cute, relaxed paced game. Give it a try, you will thank me! Don’t forget to be generous with your ACWW friends!

Game on friends, game on!

If you have been playing guitar hero without drums and a microphone you have no idea what you are missing but I am about to tell you! Why? Because having the drums and microphone amps your playing up about a thousand times! They are CRAZY INSANE FUN!

From Guitar Hero 4 ( world tour ) and up they have incorporated drums and a microphone into their series so that you can have guitar, bass, drums and vocals all in the same band… and they have done it brilliantly as far as I am concerned. Just when you think Guitar Hero can not possibly BE any more FUN!

Last night my friend bought me the Guitar Hero – Band Hero kit and while I still need to write a review on the game itself I wanted to touch just on the instruments this time around. We ( My friend and I ) booted up GH World Tour ( our favorite one to co-play so far because she hasn’t yet got the band hero ) and we managed to play for 5 hours straight! First I was guitar and she was the bass, Then? I sang and she was guitar and finally at 1 am (( oops sorry neighbors! )) I gave the drums a quick 2 song workout before realizing perhaps they were better off to be played in the daytime. LOL

My friend and I both were hysterically laughing through the entire 5 hours! Turns out with me singing we could go from 12,000 points per song to 212,000 points per song! I accept the blame, I am not yet a good guitar player and would break our streak ;) so with her playing guitar solo she ROCKED it and I am pretty good with singing so we were the perfect match.

Most hilarity ensued when I RAPPED out Beastie Boys – No sleep till Brooklyn and she jammed it out on the guitar and we got a PERFECT 100% – Later we read that people are so frustrated with this song that they are looking for cheats – apparently it is hard to sing. We felt pretty full of ourselves right until the time we played a song neither of us knew and scraped by on a wing and prayer ;) It was great though – and I am sure we will be chuckling about it and recounting it for years to come.

The drums take a bit to get used to – to remember where each color is and make your arms/hands move quickly and in unison… and the foot peddle thrown in for shits n giggles makes it a bit more challenging especially the timing ;) The drums are coated in a rubbery material and are very quiet… the only reason I quit playing is because I am in a town house where the walls are connected and thought the banging on them transferring to the floor might be too loud. I may put a piece of carpet under them to absorb the vibration for the future if I play late at night – otherwise? fantastic!

The mic is perfect really – it is your typical mic :) nicely weighted too I might add! You can control the volume and who hears you and all that jazz – well done. Also when using it you can choose what “Readout” you want to see – anything from scrolling to static to karaoke. Jump in, have fun! It is really like karaoke but without all the embarrassment plus twice the fun! You can even do it sober!

One last note to touch on, the guitar is the same as it was in GH 5 – which is a really nice, responsive guitar! It is nice to play, you do not have to abuse it to make it dance lovely notes across your screen. There is however a lot of hoopla on the net saying it is not as sturdy so be gentle children ;)

Go – get the kit and rock out – you won’t regret it! When you are a band hero look me up and we may just jam together… if you don’t mind sucking!

Nintendogs review (Ds)

I purchased Nintendogs (dachshund and friends) thinking that it would be much like Dogz was back in the day… I loved that game and watching my puppy grow up.

Nintendogs is absolutely nothing like Dogz and in fact while it has a few upsides this game gets an overall thumbs down from me.

My biggest complaint is that it is repetative… you do the same damn thing every damn day and if you don’t your dog will get sick or run away!

You can not choose to put your beloved nintendog into the doggie hotel no, that is not how it works. You can however put one dog in the hotel for care if you have several nintendogs in your care.

The game was made to KNOW how long it has been between visits to care for your dog. A day or two missed is fine but any longer and your dog gets mad at you, pouts, gets sick, runs away and so forth. This is HORRIBLE planning on the part of the game makers seeing as their main demographic are kids!

Point – my son was grounded from his DS for 2 months… by the time he got back all of his dogs were gone. Normally I would say “well, serves you right and that will teach you not to lose your game privileges” but damnit he put in a LOT of time with those dogs and it was disappointing that he lost it all.

What about when kids go on vacation and they forget their charger at home? They then get back home and their dog is long gone! That is just ass!

What about adults who have lives ;) (no – not me but I have a few adult friends who in fact own this game and play it) – we all know that life has a way of throwing a wrench into your well intentioned plans of caring for your electronic pet every day.

I personally chose to let my nintendog run away… why? Well to be honest this game is insanely repetitive. You log in, you pet your dog for 10 minutes… you teach it a new trick if you are up for it… you enter him in a contest or two to earn money to care for him… you walk him… you bathe and brush him… feed, water and you are done. The next day you log in and do the exact same thing all over again… zero variation other than perhaps which contest you choose to enter or what you choose to feed your dog ( you have a couple of very limited choices). This game became more of a chore than anything.

A lot of parents perhaps think of this game as a tool to see if their child is ready for a real pet – let me tell you this is NOT even close and will tell you absolutely nothing about how your child might do with the responsibilities of having a pet. Your child will get bored with this game (( which shows no signs of love the way a real pet does… )) and thus will neglect it. The way this game is MADE sets the kids up to fail.

I know many of the adults reading this game are going “well duh! that is what this game IS, taking care of pets!” which yes – it is… I agree but the poor choice of being unable to kennel your pooch for care while you are absent is just crap! This game could have been fun but instead it is like those annoying little key chain pets that yap and bark and get sick and shit every 10 seconds until you get so annoyed with it you throw it out the car window on the way to grandmas!

Nintendo made a mistake by turning this game into a repetitive chore… they took the fun and spontaneity right out of the game.

I could go on and on about the negatives but I won’t waste any more of my time or yours on this review.

The dogs do LOOK and BEHAVE somewhat realistically – and they are cute… and you can “download” more dog breeds from friends that you can adopt – those are the only positive thing I have to say about this game. It could have been so much more.

Two thumbs down for Nintendogs.

Game on friends, Game on!

Guitar Hero 4 – World Tour in MY opinion is by far the BEST Guitar Hero ever made (( at least at the time of me writing this!)).

World Tour has an AMAZING play list! You will find yourself singing along to the songs, tapping your toes and generally grooving as you play no matter what your age as it covers songs from several generations and genres. Not that all the other Guitar Hero’s had totally shit set lists but while me and my friends generally found we liked 5 or 6 songs off of each Guitar Hero – with World Tour we have found that we like most if not ALL of the songs on this one! Not only that but there are nearly 20 pages of downloadable content ( song packs/ individual songs) for this one where as the others have a very limited amount of DLC and what IS there doesn’t really inspire us to spend our MS POINTS on them. With World Tour you find yourself wanting quite a few of the downloadable song packs – so much so in fact that I blew through 800 points and need to snag some more because I didn’t have a chance to get all the songs I wanted to from DLC!

World Tour’s set list is all the original master recordings and as such they sound AMAZING! It has the best sounding tracks hands down out of all the previous Guitar Hero’s! If you have good speakers hooked up it is really like listening to the stereo.

World Tour also has a really COOL feature that you can CREATE AND UPLOAD custom songs! You just pop into the music studio and create a track then you upload it to the GHTUNES area of the game and other people can DOWNLOAD and RATE your work! It is awesome! I admit I have downloaded several of peoples tracks to see what they had to offer. I think this is a pretty neat addition to the Guitar Hero series… allowing you to just jam and be creative and have fun, then share your tunes with your friends around the world.

Like all the other Guitar Hero games you have several play modes – from single, quick play, career, band (which is similar to the career mode except a band has to have 2 players or more to play), online vs, online co-op etc etc etc. You can also pit YOUR BAND against OTHER BANDS! Yup! How cool is that? Always wanted to play CAREER MODE with your friends on live? Well you CAN NOW! You can co-op as a band and play career mode :D WICKED!

Another nifty World Tour feature is the ability to purchase and play DRUMS or SING with a MICROPHONE! Take your band to a whole new level! Not to mention taking the FUN to a whole new level! You and your friends, family etc can pop in the disk – load it to band settings and jam together! drums, guitars, singing – this takes the cake! You will have hours of fun and laughs.

All in all I can not say enough great things about Guitar Hero 4 – World Tour. Everything about it curls my toes in that delightfully thrilled way! If you have a chance – buy this game. You can buy it as a bundle/s (guitar, drums, mic, game) or stand alone game, but whatever way you choose – just buy it! You will love it.

Game on friends, Game on!

Kingdom for Keflings is a game like no other! Kids and adults alike find themselves addicted to this game… why? because it is cute, fun and a great, relaxed time passer!

You are a giant that is building a kingdom! You can ( and should! ) use your personalized LIVE avatar! A great feature in this game is seeing your avatar brought to life as he/she tromps around this kingdom bullying (delegating?) the Keflings!

You are the boss… and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love that?

When you boot up this game you find yourself in a field with all sorts of trees, rocks, and pink crystals… you find yourself looking around and wondering “what the hell”? Well, what did you expect? you have to BUILD your kingdom and to do that you must chop trees, make wood! Mine rocks to make bricks and mine crystals to make… well I won’t give you ALL the secrets ;) Your kingdom also will cycle through seasons which is pretty nifty – the snow scenes do lag some people temporarily but I never had any issues with lag.

You are looking at a never ending supply of resources and you must use them to your advantage. When you have enough things mined to begin building things you will be on your way! So get chopping! (literally).

If you snoop around the fields every now and then you will find little goodies such as love (( you need LOVE to build a HOME where new keflings will spawn – you NEED keflings to spawn as they will be your little work force.)) and tools that will make your gathering of resources much faster and easier.

Little Kefling hats are placed on their heads when you assign them a task – (to assign a task you simply pick the kefling up, drop it on the resource, and then pick him up again and take him where you want it delivered and drop him there… he will then run back to spot A to get said resource and run it to point B and repeat it until you take his hat off). Keflings can have all sorts of jobs… chopping wood, mining rock and crystal, shearing sheep, carrying supplies from one place to another, teachers, mayors, loom workers, dye mixers, on and on it goes. One hint I will give you? The men work faster at the heavy work than the women… so when it comes to those heavy jobs? Hire a male kefling ;) sorry ladies, I didn’t make the game!

You are able to design your kingdom however you like… one of the fun parts of KFK is being able to pop into friends kingdoms because no 2 people build their kingdoms the same! You will see some HORRIBLY arranged for work and others that run smooth as can be. Some will be colorful and painted, some boring and generic. No matter though – if you build a horribly designed kingdom? you can break stuff down and move it :) I will cushion you however that visitors to your kingdom can ALSO break shit down so before letting your game go PUBLIC? save it – save it often.

This game is awesomely done and you will find yourself pleasantly completing tasks and plugging away at making a wicked kingdom for your keflings… when you are done you will feel a sense of sadness. You can rebuild a new kingdom, build one with friends, or you can wait for NinjaBee to release new downloadable content – though they have been saying “Coming soon! new content!” for a year or two with nothing to show for it… I wouldn’t hold my breath lol

For giggles you can play Kefling soccer ( assign 4 as goal posts, 2 as goalies to run between the goal posts, and then you and a friend kick a 3rd kefling as a ball – good fun!) You can kick keflings, kick sheep, kick friends ;) there is all sorts of fun to be had as you build yourself silly.

Have fun :D you are after all – A GIANT!

Game on, friends… game on!
