A Geek With Too Much Time On Her Hands

Wow July already - hard to believe that it has been 1 year since I went in to the hospital and came out with a wheelchair. So much in my life has changed! I won't wax poetic or get all teary eyed on my news page - but I will say to those of you who have stayed by my side for the last year with all of its negativity, stress, fear, anger and bullshit? You are my smile every day. You are the people who keep me laughing even when I have days that I think all I will do is cry. Your kindness, compassion, love, friendship, acceptance, help and humor have gone a LONG way toward helping me take each day as it comes. Thank you.

Many of you spent time over the last few months reading my friend Karen's blog - clicking it so that she could win that blogging contest and for that I have another thank you! Not just from me but ALSO from Karen. She won! I do not yet know all the details but she is officially a writer for iRun! I don't know if it is in print or online or both, so I will be sure to update you when I have more info. She is a great writer and I am quite pleased she won :) Be sure to check back on the August 1, 2009 update - I should have more info for you then ( for those who wish to continue following her ).

June was a suck ass month for me medically/physically... I won't dwell on it but I did promise to keep you all updated so there you have it. 1 year in and there is zero improvement in my status other than being more "stable" as far as the clotting goes... at least I assume so since I have not had to rush into the ER for a couple of months with traveling clottage :) Hopefully I will not need the ER for years to come now.

I had to part with a lot of beloved items in June... my treadmill, some run gear, motorcycle etc. Things that I had to admit I will never use again which REALLY fucking sucked... it took a toll on me emotionally but for the most part I kept myself upbeat and chipper.

I got a guitar in June and I love it. I have always wanted to learn to play and now I have nothing but time on my hands so learning I am! No songs as of yet but so far can do scales and several chords :) Building up the calluses on my fretting hand. I was also given a crash course in basic music by my friend - so that was awesome! You can see my guitar here. Yip it is a Fender acoustic :)

Keeping busy with being creative ( painting, guitar, crafts ) as well as gaming, books, movies and friends is awesome. My camera isn't working properly however so my photos are less and less :( I can't really afford to send it in to be fixed and the last time I sent it in to be fixed I got it back but something ELSE on it was broken so not sure I should even bother. Might be time to buy a new camera.

I guess that is about it news wise for June! Most of you keep up with my blogs and twitter so you tend to have a fairly up to the moment account of me and my life :) I hope you are all having an awesome summer! Don't drink and drive.
