A Geek With Too Much Time On Her Hands

October saw a LOT of changes in Jayde land - some great, some not so great, so grab a cup of coffee and pull up a chair and find out what the heck was up with me in October!

I guess I will start with telling you my parrot no longer lives with me :( It was a very difficult decision for me to make because I love her very much but my health hasn't been the best and I have been struggling to work with her as well as care for her. Mom was trying to pick up the slack in the evening after work when she came over but the parrot didn't like my mom so every time mom tried to clean her cage or work with her - the parrot would go out of her way to attack mom. Due to this - I had to think long and hard about her future... and if I landed back in the hospital or god forbid - worse... how would mom care for her? Realizing that the parrot would be left alone for 23 hours a day and for that other hour be attacking my mom, I came to the decision that it was no life for her. I decided to re-home her now - while I am able to do so. A friend stepped up to eagerly take my bird, she was actually the mama of my birds sister! On October 13th my parrot moved in with her new parront and she already has a BOYFRIEND! YUP! Lucky girl. I am told that she is very happy (( as I suspected she would be because the gal who adopted her is amazing and they bonded almost instantly )) and thriving.

On the very same day (October 13th) I went down to the humane shelter to adopt a kitten. My kitten loves my mom and mom loves him so I rest well knowing that no matter what my health is doing he will never be in a terrible spot. I am also able to easily care for him all by myself even on my worst days! I can do most of the care from my wheelchair and or bed which means even on my absolute worst day he is not being neglected - rather he is snuggling in bed with me and giving me lovins. You can see pictures of him in my pet gallery here. I have named him Kismet and he is a darling little man. Gentle with a big heart - he settled right in immediately. Laid back, energetic, fun, silly and sweet best describe him so far! Our adoption day story is pretty sweet! Read it here.

I have a new job, working from home for an IT company. It is going well and I am enjoying it! It is not full time but that is a - o - k with me! It fits in to my days with ease. I like my bosses (( yes plural, I actually am working for 2 men)) and I hope they like the work I am doing too! I am doing a few different types of jobs rolled into one but my title is Executive Assistant. It has been an amazing opportunity for me and I am quite thrilled by it.

I haven't updated my blogs much at all the last few months, I need to get back to that. I read things or hear things I make notes to blog about but then I feel so cruddy or am so busy that it just never happens and by the time I can blog it, it is no longer fresh news so I don't bother LOL

I would also like to remind you that I have TWO blogs. My game blog here (where I review games and such but is not as active as my normal blog ) and my normal blog here (where I blog about anything and everything that is not game related). I blog in the normal blog all month between updates and the game blog when whim hits (though I do have some quiet spells now and then) - so be sure to check them out often :) Also please feel free to comment IN my blog comment area (rather than comment via email) - I know many of you are not yet used to my new blog system - you do NOT need an account to comment :) Give it a try! It will not post immediately - I need to approve your comment before it will show up.

Last but not least (as always) please give blood you can save so many lives and it doesn't hurt or take much time. You can find a blood bank near you through the links below.
